A few months back we had a request that we hadn’t really thought of. An inspector for a K-12 Independent school district client we’ve worked with on multiple new construction and renovation projects approached us with a problem.
It seems that daily inspections or daily field report were becoming a bit of a problem for him. He was being asked by his director of construction to do a variety of inspections on a wide variety of projects – not just construction. He wanted to use our Field Reports to do his work but given the nature of his daily assignments, some applied to ongoing projects but most did not.
He asked us for a way to allow him to fill out Field Reports without being tied to a specific project. We’ll admit, it was a request we had never heard before but we immediately put our heads together to see if we could come up with a solution for him.
What we came up with was an option for this inspector to create a single project that he could use to fill out his “personal” inspections for all his various assignments. This unique setup allowed him to easily track and manage his ongoing inspections and have one super simple way for him to communicate his efforts to his director.
So far this has worked out so well for his district that he’s shared the approach with a few other inspectors within his district and a neighboring district that is also using Owner Insite. We feel we might really be on to something with this approach.
I guess you could say, Owner Insite isn’t just for big construction teams any more. It’s built for individuals as well.
